Slowly but surly the roof of the tiny house is taking shape. It's a two person job most of the time so it's taking a little longer since I have to wait for help. The first step was getting the ridge beam up, which turned out to be easier than I thought.
Somehow, John managed to haul that 18' beam all the way up the ladder by himself and get it mostly situated without me. I ended up helping in the fine tuning of where the beam would end up going. The rest of the day was spent breaking down pallets and figuring out how to make the rafters.
I am still going to get more pallets so I have some extra for waste and I think I'll do the loft floor in the oak too after seeing how little work it took to do the main floor(compared to what I thought I was going to have to do.) Next is the fun part of planing down all the wood to reveal its beauty and getting it all squared up. I will also add, John has been doing a lot of the pallet-pulling-apart work the past couple of weeks that got me here, so a lot of appreciation goes his way.
In other news I've decided the window above the couch is too low and will need to be moved up, so we'll have to knock out what I've already framed and try to reframe it in an already standing wall. Fun. However, I'd rather have everything be done right than take the easy way out, especially if I'm going to have to look at it every single day from every single spot in the house.
