This was probably the fastest winter break I've had yet. Spring semester is about to start in 2 days and life will be getting back to normal again. I did get a few things done on the trailer though and I can now move on to more exciting things. Today I made the final push and finished painting and I am so happy. I never want to work with oil based paint again(but I know I'll have to.) It is an incredible pain in the ass to clean up and it just seemed to get everywhere. However, it looks pretty sharp; almost like new. Below is a picture:
Obviously not every inch of the trailer is painted. I realized the top is going to be covered by the house so not much water should be getting in there anyways and no one will see it. The spray paint I put on there this summer should protect the metal just fine. So instead, I focused my energy on painting the stuff that people were going to see, and even more importantly, the metal that was going to be exposed to the elements for years to come.
Also something worth pointing out is the foam with the red stripe I have laid down under the trailer. My dad and I discovered that the left over padded flooring underlay from building his house was PERFECT as a mat to lay down on when working on cars, trailers, etc. in the garage. It's soft, insulating(keeps the cold off of your back), and has a slick plastic surface that is easy to wipe up any spills on. So anyone out there looking to improve your garage and work experience I'd suggest picking up a roll of this instead of an expensive alternative.

Here's a quick little shot of the underside of the tongue of the trailer. I love how new and shiny it looks; too bad it's hidden where no one can see it.
My next project is order a new electric brake assembly(which I'll probably do tonight) and to make all the cross bracing going across the trailer level with the top.

Because all the bars are a little under 2 inches below the top of the trailer I'm going to get some pressure treated 2x4's and 2x6's and bolt them to the beams. It should be pretty easy and after that I can get the flashing on, making it one step closer to framing up the floor!
