On Friday I ordered my windows which are the largest single purchase of my build. It was scary and exciting at the same time. I was told it'll take 2 weeks to make and then maybe a couple more days before a truck fills up so they can deliver them from Bozeman to Livingston(for free!) so in about 3 weeks I should have windows in my house! I ended up getting 11 windows from Milgard's Montecito line for $1,404.50 which I don't think is too bad at all. This, plus a couple more little things brings my total so far on the house to $5,177.41. It's crazy to see how fast half of my budget has disappeared but according to my spreadsheet and planing, this is how it should be going. The first "phase" of my build should cost $6,383.18.
Up next on the list of things to do is finish putting braces and hurricane straps on everything then the sheathing! I should start that by this weekend, if not earlier, so there should be some exciting changes under the Progress page on this site.

While the sheathing is going on I will also be getting beams for my loft. I'm thinking I'm going to get some rough cut douglas fir or heart pine(to match my counters) and plane it down to make it look really nice for the exposed beams in the kitchen.
In the meantime, let me know if there's any questions or anything you'd like to see covered more in this blog. I'd love to transparent about this whole process and I'm sure there's something I'm forgetting to talk about...
